Taken on the same morning as Frozen Trees. Everything was frozen white. I guess I like taking pictures into the sun :-)
Download for 2560x1600.

I saw your image in =Lavaspawn's jounal.

It has such an otherworldly atmosphere. By luck or judgement (most likely a combination of both!)you made a perfect capture.

Thank you!

Was that shot taken on the 22nd of december, 2007?
I'm dutch and this shot was taken just outside of Eindhoven, visiting my parents. I remember coming back home to the UK and logging on to deviantart and being flooded with white pics of holland.

Ur Welcome!
No it was taken on the 9th of January, 2009 16:40:22 ;)
Shot was taken between my Place (Schijndel) and Boxtel. The situation; frosty branches and snowy ground, lastes only one day.

Wow...the reflection, the fog, the white and the composition, it´s really impressive, it also remind me to IR photography.

:-) It was a surreal day, and it took hardly any skill to take pictures of it! ;-)

Little overexposed in certain areas, but in all honesty, I like it like that!! Very nicely composed shot man :+fav:

Thank you and that was a bit left field! How did you manage to dig that one up!?
Even though this is my most faved shot, I think I have learned a fair bit about fotography since this one - only goes to show really doesn't it.
I think this one was taken on auto with some extra exposure dialled in ;-) Although I would probably over-expose it again! (And definitely save it as raw, not just jpeg!!)

I know what you mean about not taking pics, although usually the quest for that fantastic shot kicks in and I can hardly take my camera away from my eye!

Beautiful! at first glance I thought it was inferred.
But better yet it is snow. Love how it is glowing from the sun rays.

Excellent. My only complaint would be the highlight clipping in the sky @ the left top.

Can you explain about the highlight clipping? i did some research but didn't really find an explanation of what you are saying...

Do you see at the upper left corner, there is a sudden shift from pure white to light blue? In the white region (a highlight) detail has been clipped - it became white due to overexposure.

Cool, I can understand that :-)
I knew the pic was slightly over-exposed (that was on purpose in order to catch the white of the forst - some of the trees on the left havebeen washed out as well...) But on my monitor it more or less looks like a gradual change from white to blue. Guess the monitor may need calibration?

Perhaps it's a different brightness on your monitor. I use this page - [link] - for Gamma 2.2. Try it out.

Thing is, you can bring out the shadow detail (adjust shadow/highlights in photoshop) rather well, but highlight detail is usually lost forever. So usually it's better slightly overexpose and then photoshop the shadows to be brighter.
